DaVinci Resolve

Linux alternative to Adobe Premiere Pro

About

Resolve is the one genuinely professional NLE with first-class Linux support, because Hollywood post houses run it on Linux. Editing, Fusion compositing, Fairlight audio, and the best color grading tools in the business — the free version covers an enormous amount. If you’re leaving Premiere and want to level up rather than sideways, this is the move.

The Linux free version famously lacks H.264/H.265 decode and AAC audio support, so you’ll transcode footage to DNxHR or use community tools before editing — the paid Studio version ($295 one-time) lifts most of this. Installation outside the official installer means the AUR package doing heavy lifting, and AMD GPU support requires ROCm, which is its own adventure. It’s powerful, not frictionless.
