EasyEffects

Linux alternative to Equalizer APO

About

EasyEffects sits on PipeWire and applies effect chains to any application’s audio or your microphone: parametric EQ (with AutoEQ presets for your specific headphones), compression, limiter, bass enhancement, echo cancellation, and a noise-reduction plugin that makes cheap mics sound respectable on calls. It’s the closest thing to Equalizer APO + Peace, and arguably nicer to use.

It requires PipeWire, so ancient PulseAudio-only setups are out (any current distro is fine). Effect chains cost some CPU and can add latency — gamers may want it off for competitive play, and the noise reduction can artifact on music. Preset management across in/out devices takes a little initial fiddling.
