BleachBit

Linux alternative to CCleaner

Unrated from 0 reports

About

BleachBit does the CCleaner job without the adware baggage: it knows the cache and junk locations for hundreds of applications, previews exactly what it’ll delete before touching anything, and can shred files or wipe free space for privacy. It’s simple, scriptable from the CLI, and does one thing well.

Temper the expectations you brought from Windows, though — Linux doesn’t accumulate registry rot, so aggressive cleaning matters less here and can occasionally break things (cleaning some caches just makes apps slower until they rebuild). Run it as your user for most tasks; be very careful with the root mode and the more aggressive options like memory wiping. Development is steady but not fast-moving.
