CoolerControl
Linux alternative to FanControl
About
CoolerControl gives Linux the FanControl-style experience Windows users miss: custom fan curves bound to any sensor (CPU, GPU, NVMe, water temp), mixed curves, profiles, and support for many AIO coolers and fan controllers via liquidctl integration. The daemon applies settings at boot and the GUI makes curve editing visual and immediate.
Hardware support is the variable: it depends on kernel hwmon drivers and liquidctl coverage, so exotic controllers or the newest AIO models may expose nothing or only partial control — check before buying hardware around it. Motherboard fan headers sometimes need a BIOS setting (or nct6775-style driver options) before Linux can drive them. Within supported hardware, it’s excellent and actively developed.
