Czkawka
Linux alternative to Duplicate Cleaner
About
Czkawka (Polish for ‘hiccup’) finds the cruft other cleaners miss: exact duplicates by hash, visually similar images (different sizes/compression of the same photo), similar videos, music duplicates by tags, empty directories, broken files, and huge files — all absurdly fast thanks to Rust and good caching. For deduplicating years of photo dumps and download folders, it’s the best tool on any platform.
With great bulk-delete power comes responsibility: review before deleting, especially with similarity matching, which has adjustable strictness for a reason. The GTK interface is utilitarian, and some workflows (choosing which duplicate to keep across thousands of groups) get tedious — the CLI helps for scripted rules. It finds junk; deciding what’s junk stays your job.
