HomeBank

Linux alternative to Microsoft Money

About

HomeBank targets the person who wants to know where the money went without learning bookkeeping: import bank statements (OFX/QIF/CSV), categorize with rules, set budgets, and get genuinely good charts and reports. Setup to useful insight is an afternoon, not a weekend, and it’s been steadily maintained for over two decades.

It’s single-user, desktop-only thinking — no mobile app, no sync, no automatic bank feeds, so the discipline of regular imports is on you. Investment tracking is minimal and there’s nothing business-shaped (no invoicing). If you want double-entry rigor go GnuCash; if you want cloud-and-phone convenience, this isn’t that.
