About

Metadata Cleaner removes the stuff files carry that you didn’t mean to share: GPS coordinates and camera data in photos, author names and revision history traces in office documents, creator tags in PDFs. Drag files in, review what’s found, clean in place or as copies. It wraps mat2, the metadata anonymization toolkit used by privacy-focused projects.

Cleaning is lossy in specific ways — some formats get re-saved, which can alter office files subtly, and it can’t scrub everything (content-level identifying info, printer dots in scans, or metadata inside embedded objects it can’t parse). Check the supported-format list, and treat it as one layer of hygiene rather than anonymity insurance.
