Xournal++

Xournal++ is the tool for pen-tablet and touchscreen note-taking: smooth ink with pressure sensitivity, shape recognition, LaTeX blocks, audio recording synced to your notes, and first-class PDF annotation — load a lecture slide deck or contract and write directly on it. On a convertible laptop or with a drawing tablet, it’s the closest Linux gets to OneNote’s ink experience or a paper notebook.

It doesn’t do OneNote’s other half: no cloud sync (files are local, sync them yourself), no typed-note organization system, notebooks are individual files rather than a searchable workspace. Handwriting recognition/search doesn’t exist. Typed-notes people should look at Joplin or Obsidian instead; this is for people who think with a pen.
